Types of consultations:
Ayurveda is a complete, holistic medical science that's over 5,000 years old. In Sanskrit, “ayus” means life and “veda” is knowledge. Ayurveda is described as the knowledge or study of life. Also known as, the "art of living." It’s a system based on the universal laws of nature, which can be applied to any time period, culture, or geographic location. Although the earliest records date back thousands of years, it is considered to be a living-wisdom system that evolves and holds relevance throughout time.
There are a variety of tools used in Ayurveda to assist the healing process. They include: diet, herbal medicines, yogic practices, rejuvenation therapies, lifestyle regimes, and sense therapies (aromatherapy, body therapy, color & gem therapy, and sound healing). Each tool is set in place with the purpose of cultivating wholeness for the individual by creating harmony between the internal and external environment.
By observing the five elements, we can learn how each element expresses itself within our own being and can determine if they are manifesting properly, deficiently, or in excess. Each person is born with a certain ratio of each element that makes up his or her constitution or genetic blueprint. As our original state normally wavers throughout our life, we can provide an antidote by applying the opposite qualities of the element out of balance. Also doshas (vata, pitta, kapha) are used to determine one's constitution and help determine what kind of medicine is needed,
Through understanding the cycles of nature and our own true nature, we are able to restore balance and maintain optimal health of the mind, body, and spirit. The primary goal of Ayurveda is Self-Healing by promoting well-being and alleviating dis-ease.
How an Ayurvedic consultation works:
First, you will fill out and Intake Form and return it within 24-hours before your scheduled appointment. The 'Initial Consultation' takes approximately 1.5 hours during which I will ask you a number of questions and use a variety of Ayurvedic diagnostic tools (such as pulse and tongue assessment). Follow-Up visits are for checking in about previous recommendations and to receive ongoing support around lifestyle and dietary shifts.
Within the first month, it's encouraged to see a practitioner consistently since we are often the most vulnerable at the beginning of making any real change. Creating new habits and behaviors takes a commitment of time and energy, varying from person to person. I'm here to provide honest feedback along the way, hold accountability, and be with you step by step as you reach your goals. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have!
"I was blessed to be able to work with Camina. Step by gentle step, Camina introduced me to many spiritually and physically supportive practices. I learned so much in the months we worked together!! And I still experience great benefits from the practices. But most importantly, her deeply conscious valuing of Ayurveda combined with her truly non-judgmental, open-hearted presence, create in her the makings of a true healer. I will always be thankful for the opportunity I had to get to know Camina and benefit from her knowledgable, compassionate care." -Jan Tannarome
